Keep pushing yourself to complete the exercises in a set even if you're tired. Don't stop until you literally cannot do any more of the exercise. You can then begin using heavier weights and doing less repetitions to increase muscle size. One problem that could plague an individual trying to maximize muscle building are the muscles that grow slower than others. A fill set can target problem groups. Target the particular muscle group with 25-30 reps of a specific exercise a few days after you last exercised that group. Be sure that you are eating healthy when training. You need to do things like increasing protein and avoiding foods rich in fat. This is not a pass to eat more food. Instead, it means you must balance your diet.
